Gender equality and female entrepreneurship.
The protection of Women's Community Cooperatives.
Basiliotti, in response to UN Agenda 2030 objective 5, in its ongoing efforts to promote gender equality, chose this year to support the Filo&Fibra Women’s Community Cooperative, a small local enterprise where women work together to produce handicrafts using sustainable materials.
This support was reflected in the commission of more than 1,000 bags made of recycled felt, which were given to the company’s customers during the prestigious Packaging Premiere 2023 fair in Milan.
This collaboration is a tangible example of how companies can help improve the situation of women in society by providing them with job opportunities and concrete support, helping to build a fairer and more inclusive society.
Recovery and enhancement.
The Filo&Fibra Cooperative, based in a small village in the province of Siena, has for years been engaged in the establishment of a local wool supply chain that enhances the resources of the environment and the culture of the territory.
In the past, wool was an essential resource for the economy of entire regions. Today, however, it has become a burden due to the fact that it is difficult to dispose of, being classified as ‘special’ waste, thus becoming an unsustainable cost for farmers.
Despite the difficulties, Basiliotti supports in Tuscany the small local enterprises that have managed to give new life to sheep’s wool by placing it on the market in the form of textile artefacts.
Homage to Lucio Fontana.
The bags, designed by the company designers, were a tribute to the artistic genius of Lucio Fontana (1899-1968), the founder of spatialism, who with his “holes” and his “cuts” was able to revolutionise the very concept of art by finding the union between finite and infinite beyond the limits of matter.
This homage has turned the bags into actual works of art, symbol of Basiliotti’s commitment to the enhancement of both female work and artistic creativity.
